Endangered Sites Committee
The Endangered Sites Committee is a loosely organized, dynamic group of volunteers within FCLF that advocates for the protection and preservation of structures or other historic features in Frederick County that are at risk.
Volunteers attend and make presentations at public hearings, write letters and articles, contact owners of structures and government agencies, distribute petitions or other activities to raise public awareness. They research building histories and document structures. When a building is to be lost, they salvage historic building materials to allow reuse in other preservation projects.
To join this group either for a specific issue or for the long term, contact FCLF. You can be part of the solution.

Endangered Sites List
FCLF publishes an annual list of Frederick County's most endangered sites in Frederick Magazine. Frederick is one of few local organizations to formally identify historic treasures threatened by demolition, deterioration, or development. This important effort has been responsible for raising public awareness of the vulnerability of irreplaceable historic assets, and has helped save several sites that would have otherwise been destroyed.
Threatened structures or other historic features in Frederick County can be nominated to the annual Endangered Sites List by contacting FCLF with information on the history and importance of the site and the nature of the threat to the site. The list is finalized each June for publication in September.
